- The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that “doctors prioritize in-person newborn care and well visits and immunizations of infants and young children.” We feel it is imperative, now more than ever, to protect our patients.
- To adhere to NWH guidelines, we are asking that ONE parent/guardian/caregiver accompany your child(ren) to their visit. We realize this may not always be possible with newborns, please inquire if you an extenuating circumstance. Please do not bring siblings unless they have a scheduled appointment. This applies to both Newton Wellesley and Newton Corner locations.
- If you need to schedule a COVID-19 test, we can refer you to MGH’s COVID testing line, urgent cares in the area, or directly to Newton-Wellesley. Please note, if your child needs to be tested for COVID-19 and needs to be cleared to return to school, a PCR COVID-19 (not antibody or antigen) test will need to be performed and resulted.
Check in for all in-person appointments is by phone. Prior to proceeding into the office, we request that you call once you have arrived to the parking lot to complete the check in process.

To ensure safety, we screen all patients for COVID-related symptoms; please be patient with our staff as they ask necessary screening questions prior to your visit.
All staff wear appropriate PPE; we ask that all parents and children wear masks whenever possible. We will provide you with a mask if you do not have one.
Patients will be called into rooms directly. The rooms are cleaned and sanitized adhering to the strictest guidelines.
To comply with social distancing we ask that, whenever possible, children be accompanied by only one adult.
- Virtual visits (telehealth) are appropriate for many concerns: medication checks and follow-ups, evaluation of rashes, headaches, constipation, ADHD and asthma management, general developmental or behavioral questions/concerns, mild respiratory illness and minor injuries.
Per order of Governor Baker, health insurers must cover telehealth visits, with no cost sharing for patients or families.
In order to have a virtual visit, you must sign up for My Chart (our electronic health record portal); all patients 13 years and older MUST have their own account.
For all virtual well visits, please weigh and measure your child prior to the visit.

Here at PNW, we are currently unable to offer in-office COVID-19 testing. Although we are waiting on supplies needed to test in our office, we are available to see your sick child. This can be done either in-office or virtually. We can then refer you to MGH’s COVID testing line, urgent cares in the area, or directly to Newton-Wellesley. RETURNING TO SPORTS AFTER COVID-19
The AAP is now recommending that any child who tests positive for Covid should get their doctor’s approval before returning to exercise or sports. If you receive a positive test result outside of our office, please let us know. Click below for more details.
